Women in the Golf Industry (WIGI) is an
industry association founded several years ago by women working in
the industry. Members work in all areas of the industry
including retail, internet, communications, course design, and
course management. (Men may also join WIGI.) Members
are committed to promoting and encouraging more women in the
industry as well as women golfers. For information about WIGI
see http://www.wigi.info. Annual dues are $50.
INTERN
PROGRAM
WIGI is sponsoring an intern program for
young women and men of high school and college age that would
like to experience working in the industry. Internships will
be cooperatively designed by the intern and WIGI
member. In some cases, interns may be able to earn
course credit.
The program is supervised by Nancy
Berkley. Nancy is the author of An Insider's Guide to
Careers in the Golf Industry, which she wrote for the National
Golf Foundation.
If you are interested in an internship,
please contact her below. You may also use the WIGI website
at http://www.wigi.info. Indicate: the area you would like to work
in (example: retail sales, golf course management, public
relations, internet). Please provide information about
previous work experience and education along with why you want to
work in the golf industry.
We encourage internship
applications of between 4 weeks and three months.
Note: most internships will be unsalaried, but the mentorship
and supevision will be excellent and a good resume builder. In some
cases, intern and WIGI member may be able to obtain sponsors for
minimum stipends.
