Take Your Daughter to the Course
Week
... Or your granddaughter, niece, best friend's
daughter
....and moms and dads, aunts and uncles, gals and
guys are all welcome to Take Their Favorite Girl to the Course
Week
Sponsored by
the NGCOA, the annual Take Your Daughter to the Course Week is a
wonderful opportunity to grow the number of junior female golfers
and raise awareness of your facility's programs for women
golfers. A facility does not have to be a member of the NGCOA
to participate. (See http://www.ngcoa.org) The NGCOA has a complete manual for how to
promote and plan for the event.
Here are some good
marketing tips as you think about promoting the event:
Try to come up with
something that's "newsworthy" in your publicity. If it is the
first time your facility is participating, then use a headline in
press release such as: New Girls Golf Clinic at XX
Course. Any new feature in your program can be
a headline: Sponsors offer Prizes for Girls Putting
Contest. It's also a good idea to send publicity way in
advance. Put together a planning committee of some parents
and children at your club and take a photo ; make sure you include
moms and dads -- then use the headline: XX Course
Getting Ready for Girls. Even if your headline is
not used by the local paper, your press release will get more
attention.
What would really
make headlines is if you offered an hour of childcare for
those younger brothers and sisters during the girls golf
clinic. (Check with local tennis clubs, which often offer
babysitting, and see how they do it.) If you are having a
planning meeting, make sure some toddlers are in the photo so you
can mention the childcare for younger siblings in the press
release.
